The Thing Chapter 1

As I stand here at gun point, I say my prayers wondering if it's all true. A small brown box sits innocently in the centre of the room, the one I lost. The one I had been entrusted with because I had never failed a mission. This is my first and last. I close my eyes waiting for the shot and my first failure of a mission burns through my mind like a dvd on rewind.
Chapeter One
It's a frosty winters afternoon in New York. Snow falls in heaps from the roof and snow flakes fall and slither down my window. I lie sleppily on my bed and turn my head to check the clock. In one hand I hold a cup of steaming Tea and in the other hand I hold my phone, a new state of the art; it's rubbish. It's freezing and I'm thinking 'new day, new identity, new job, new life' and all I really want to do is go back to sleep. Suddenly the annoying mission impossible tune started ringing through my head. My older sister had set and locked it because she new my phone was old and eventually loading tunes would brake it. She's slowly adapting to her new lifestyle. Being the sister of a spy isn't as glorious as it could be.
I open up a text from my Boss, Spencer.
'Zeva. Go to AutoStore. Mainstreet. Pick up parcel. URGENT. Tell Tom I sent you.'
On my way, I pass an alley with a signpost right at the end. I can see it says 'TOM AS' Everyone knows Tom's AutoShop but there is something about it that makes me feel uneasy. Cautiously, I head down before stopping abruptly as I hear footsteps behind me. I spin around and freeze.
"Hello Zeva." Maxwell Volochi. An old aqauintance.
"Long time no see" he continues.
"Agreed" I reply, "But clearly not long enough.
He raises his eyebrows and I see that familiar evil glint in his eyes.
"I trust you recieved that text from Spencer." How does he know? "I, am Tom." Trying to suppress my surprise I let him continue.
" You see, I intercepted that text. Spencer needs something that I also need. He needs you to protect it, but you won't. I need something from your lab. I have everything to conduct a...what you would call, Highly classified scientific expreiment." He gives me a sheet of paper. "This is what I need. And to ensure you won't tell anyone, I have your sister. She is quite safe, for now. Get me what I need or I will kill your sister." I run from the alley, the peice of paper within my grasp. I don't care. I will tell. I have never failed before. I will go to the police. I saw a station nearby before. I see it and I run for it. Then I stop.................
